Very funny, ingenious and fascinating: Nothing. Two losers see their wishes come true: everything they dont like, disappears. They are finally left alone, surrounded by a white void. From the director of Cube.
Nothing follows Dave (Hewlett) and Andrew (co-writer Andrew Miller) as their lives fall apart even more than it already has up to this point. Dave is framed for embezzlement at work and Andrew is accused of molestation by a vindictive girl scout (dont ask). As the world, the police, and a demolition crew sent by the city to tear down Andrews beloved house (and Daves only source of residence) breaks down their doors, the two men wish the world away and it works! Dave and Andrew come out of their house to find a big white void where the world used to be. The only thing that remains is themselves and everything inside their house.
For any less talented director a limited concept barely adequate for a short film. However, Vincenzo Natali is a filmmaker who is looking precisely for these kinds of creative challenges to create a particularly fascinating comedy with a wealth of ideas and inventions. Pretty brilliant!
